The Accordion Ensemble Leipzig Music School was formed in 1999 and currently consists of nine players aged between 16 and 28 years. The ensemble performs a wide range of music, from classical to klezmer. Conductor Valeri Funkner has successfully led the ensemble onto several tours, such as the World Music Festival 2013 in Innsbruck and a tour to Syria in 2011.
London Intermediate Accordion Orchestra (LIAO) was formed in 2014. It has around 20 players and is the 'little brother' to the London Accordion Orchestra, which has 40 players and performs all over Europe. LIAO performs original music for accordion orchestra as well as arrangements of pieces written for other instruments. Both of our orchestras have the goal of widening appreciation of this wonderful instrument and LIAO in particular encourages children to participate and experience the joy of playing music with other people.
The mass for James Mullally will be held at Ealing Abbey this Monday, 16th October at 7:15pm. The funeral service will be a few days later in Ireland. After the mass there will be a reception at The Benet Bar next to the Abbey.

Mass at 7.15pm (followed by a reception at The Benet Bar)
It is with deep sadness that we learned this morning of the death of James Mullally, a devoted member of the orchestra. James was co-leader of LAO and a very talented musician. He was loved and admired by our players and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with James' family and friends.
***Super Orchestra Day 2017***
Exactly one month to go until our annual mass squeeze-a-thon - the biggest in the UK. Players from all over the country gather in Ripley (Surrey) to rehearse 3 (not difficult!) pieces and play an informal early evening concert.
This year for the first time we introduce 'mini orchestra' for under 16's. A free workshop running during the day aimed at young people who have never played before or recently started playing. We have a number of instruments for children who don't own one. Although the day is free for under 16's they must be registered. Also performances from Watford Accordion Band, Tillingbourne Accordion Orchestra and our very own LIAO.
To get a booking form for Super Orchestra or mini orchestra send us a FaceBook message with your email address, or email us directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org
***Join the orchestra***
LAO have 2 spaces available for experienced players in the main orchestra and 4 spaces in our Intermediate orchestra.
2018 will be another action packed year for LAO. Our film music concert in January, a performance at The Royal Academy of Music to premiere new works by RAM students in April, touring to Slovenia in May and a return to a famous central London venue for a special performance at the end of the year.
Rehearsals are twice a month in Pimlico and you don't have to live in London to join. We work hard but have plenty of fun as well! For more information email the orchestra:
